BLACKPINK’s Rosé achieved a major milestone as a solo artist at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

On September 7, the 28-year-old singer took home her very first Moon Person for the Song of the Year, APT. featuring Bruno Mars, making her the first Korean solo artist.

She took centre stage on Sunday night to thank her group members, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo, her 16-year-old self, and Bruno Mars in an emotional speech.

The Toxic Till the End hitmater said, “First of all, thank you so much, Bruno. I can’t believe this. I’m gonna call you up after, so I'll say everything.”

Apparently, the 39-year-old singer was not present at the award show even though he was nominated in three categories as a featured artist.

Rosé continued, “Twelve years later, I dedicate this award to my 16-year-old self, who dreamed, and to all those who have watched me grow into the artist that I am today.”

She concluded her heartfelt message with a nod to every artist who was nominated and to the network for giving her the platform.

Notably, the K-pop artist was nominated in eight categories this year, which she found out while she was on the BLACKPINK DEADLINE world tour.

Aside from this celebration, the global girl group also won the Best Group award, beating Twenty One Pilots and Coldplay.

For the unversed, Rosé will continue the world tour along with her band members from October 18 in Taiwan.
