Lily Collins responds to criticism after ‘Emily in Paris’ post sparks outrage

Lily Collins opened up about the death of Emily in Paris assistant director, Diego Borella, after her recent celebratory post enraged her fans.

On August 26, the 36-year-old actress took to her Instagram to share the wrap of the fifth season with a series of carousels alongside her costar, Ashley Park.

Netizens noticed the post came just days after the sudden death of Borella and commented under the photos, “this poor guy deserves a mention..”

Collins responded to the comment with an emotional message honoring the crew member.

She wrote, “We were all devastated by the loss of one of our own. Sending so much love and support to Diego's family and loved ones, and respecting their privacy at this time.”

Notably, the pictures depicted the duo from behind the scenes of the series, posing for the camera with rose bouquets. The Love, Rosie lead captioned the post, “And that’s another wrap on @emilyinparis… Here’s to five seasons of friendship turned sisterhood.”

Aside from Collins, other cast members have not yet publicly spoken about the demise of Borella.

However, fans are still excited about the upcoming fifth part as they wrote, “We go anywhere with Emily & Mindy.”

Created by Darren Star, the original cast members have reprised their roles, including Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount and Bruno Gouery, among others. Though Camille Razat won’t be returning as Camille for the new season.

For the unversed, Emily in Paris season 5 drops on December 18 on Netflix.

The show creator Darren Star and Camille felt that her character’s story has reached a natural conclusion. It was also because the actress wanted to explore other roles.
