Paul McCartney set for first solo album in five years

Paul McCartney, best known as a member of The Beatles, has been working on his first solo album in more than five years.

The 83-year-old popstar, known for classics like Hey Jude and Let It Be, is hailed as one of the greatest and most influential artists in music history.

The legendary musician is reportedly close to finishing the follow-up to 2020’s McCartney III, with a UK tour already planned for 2026.

A source told The Sun, “Paul has been working on the album all year. It’s not quite finished, but the majority is done, and he’s really proud of it. 

As for live shows, he’s told his team he wants to tour the UK again, so gigs next year are happening.”

Before then, Macca will hit the US with a tour starting on September 29 in Palm Desert, California, running until November 25 in Chicago. 

Earlier this year, he treated fans to intimate performances at New York’s Bowery Ballroom.

Meanwhile, the rockstar also revisited his Wings days with a new book, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, due out in November. 

Reflecting on the book, McCartney said, “Starting from scratch after the Beatles felt crazy at times. But as we got better, I thought, ‘OK, this is really good.’ 

We proved Wings could be a really good band and have an impact in a different way.”
