The royal family is bracing for more uncomfortable headlines, with one royal expert claiming they “live in fear” of what new revelations about Prince Andrew could surface next.
Journalist Richard Eden made the remark in a new TV documentary, warning that “who knows what could come out?” as scrutiny intensifies around the Duke of York, 65.
Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019 following his disastrous Newsnight interview about his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein.
Since then, he has largely retreated from view, spending most of his time at Royal Lodge in Windsor and rarely appearing alongside senior royals. He no longer uses the HRH style.
The renewed anxiety follows the release of Andrew Lownie’s explosive book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, and Channel 5’s documentary Andrew & Fergie: The Duke and Duchess of Excess.
Both works revisit allegations about Andrew’s conduct, connections and spending, claims the Duke has not addressed publicly.
With the potential for more insiders to speak out, palace watchers say the royal household is keen to avoid further reputational damage while keeping distance from controversies they cannot control.
For now, Andrew remains a non-working royal, and the family, according to Eden, remains wary of what might land next.
