Amber Heard left behind her quiet life in Spanish capital to make her stage comeback in the US with Spirit of the People.
The 39-year-old actress had initially relocated to Madrid with her daughter, Oonagh Paige, following years of intense media attention and courtroom battles with ex-partner Johnny Depp.
According to reports, she also adopted the secret name Martha Jane Cannary in an effort to maintain her privacy.
However, The Rum Diary star later made a quiet return to the U.S. for a theatrical comeback.
In June, Heard took to Instagram to announce her involvement in a new stage production, describing it as the beginning of her “theatre era.”
On August 3, she returned to social media to thank her fans for their overwhelming support.
“Thank you to all my fans and supporters for turning an already unforgettable weekend into something even more special,” she wrote.
“The flowers may fade, but I’ll always remember the love and support I felt through this journey.”
The Aquaman actresses’ time in Madrid helped her navigate the linguistic demands of the role, giving her an edge in the performance.
She played Genevieve in the production, starring alongside Ato Blankson-Wood, Zachary Booth, Brandon Flynn, and Amandla Jahava.
Spirit of the People, written by acclaimed playwright Jeremy O. Harris, stood out for its bold format, with significant portions performed in Spanish.
Although Harris is not fluent in the language, he said he wanted to challenge traditional storytelling structures.
