Taron Egerton recently responded to speculations linking him to the James Bond franchise.
The 35-year-old actor found himself amidst many A-listers who have been rumoured to play the legendary 007 character.
In conversation with Collider, Egerton denied reports by saying, "I don't think I'm a good choice for it, I think I'm too messy for that."
He added, "As far as I’m aware, nobody’s asking me to do it."
The Rocketman star admitted that there are many younger actors out there who can honour the legacy of previous James Bonds.
Seemingly, he was chosen by fans due to his portrayal of Eggsy Unwin in the spy comedy franchise, The Kingsman.
However, he confessed that he likes to work on projects that speak to him on a creative level, and right now he’s interested in “doing something more commercial.”
Notably, Amazon acquired MGM Studios for $8.5 billion, obtaining full creative control over the James Bond series.
In June, the studio announced a new film in the franchise, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve; however, the cast has not been revealed yet.
For the unversed, Daniel Craig left the titular character of Bond to pursue other projects.
Currently, Taron Egerton is preparing for the premiere of his film, She Rides Shotgun, which will be released on August 1.
