James Gunn explains when ‘Peacemaker’ S2 occurs after ‘Superman’

DC Studios co-head James Gunn confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 takes place in the DC Universe timeline after the events of Superman.

The upcoming season of Peacemaker will continue Chris Smith’s DCEU story in the DCU.

“The show happens a month after the events of Superman,” said director Gunn. “A lot of the characters return… in the first episode, we have Guy Gardner and Maxwell Lord.”

As John Cena’s character, Smith, appears just two months after Superman, the battle from the movie will still be fresh.

Moreover, the first trailer for Season 2 shows that Smith cannot join the Justice Gang, who might be more arrogant than ever since their rise to power in Superman.

Additionally, Chris Smith’s cameo in Superman strengthens Peacemaker Season 2’s connection to the film.

While Peacemaker previously claimed on national TV that Superman was a fraud, that statement might come back to haunt him.

Besides Cena, the cast features Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Tim Meadows, and Michael Rooker.
