Netflix has put out the first look at its upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic, Pride and Prejudice, into a mini TV series, and revealed the supporting cast.
Production of the six-episode-long British drama series has begun in the UK.
Previously, the cast members for the protagonists were announced, including Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden as Mr. Darcy, and Olivia Colman as Mrs. Bennet.
Joining them, Rufus Sewell will play Mr. Bennet, and the other Bennet sisters are Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, while Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery make their debuts as Mary Bennet and Kitty Bennet, respectively.
The supporting cast also includes Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
Moreover, Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb, and Isabella Sermon are also named among the supporting actors.
Heartstopper director Euros Lyn and screenwriter Dolly Alderton will be working on the 1813 adaptation of Austen’s timeless narration.
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton said in a statement. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
