Iconic Keira Knightley film finally gets sequel after 23 years

Keira Knightley has been a part of many iconic films in the early 2000s and now one of those classics is getting a remake.

The British actress was a part of a 2002 movie, Bend It Like Beckham, that proved to be an influential movie for the time and launched her career.

The movie, starring Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra, is a British classic with a major South Asian plot to it.

It has now been confirmed that a sequel is in the works.

The sequel is being planned for a 2027 release that will coincide with the movie’s 25th anniversary and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The movie’s director Gurinder Chadha teased the sequel on Saturday.

“We've been part of changing the game for women, so it felt like this was a good time for me to go back and investigate the characters”, she told BBC.

Gurindher also said that she is unsure if it will be a movie or a television series.

“A lot has changed since the original movie, but I think that people still don't think that women should play football”, she said.
