Guy Ritchie, well known for crime and action movies, has stepped away from directing the upcoming sequel Road House 2.
Amid growing speculations, it marked a major shift with Amazon MGM project, just months before production.
Fountain of Youth filmmaker has not revealed the reasons behind his directorial departure as Ritchie boycotted the film’s premiere and called out the studio for not sticking to their initial agreement.
As the 56-year-old filmmaker left the project, the future of upcoming sequel remains uncertain.
Road House 2 details have been under wrap while the original plot revolves around the DEA agent battling drug traffickers to protect his uncle’s bar.
The upcoming sequel will be starring Jake Gyllenhaal reprising his lead role as Dalton.
Moreover, the remake pulled over 50M viewers on Prime Video in 2024. It has eventually rose to 80M in the first eight weeks.
In addition, production is expected to start this fall, and new casting will be confirmed once film finds a new director.
