The highly-anticipated Superman movie has finally landed in cinemas, drawing the crowds of devoted DC fans to experience director James Gunn’s rebooted vision of the legendary hero.
The sci-fi movie stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, has received mixed reviews from critics.
Although the action-packed movie currently holds 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, one twist has sparked fans’ discussion on social media platforms.
The twist in plot revolves around the bad intentions of Superman’s parents, Jor-El and Lara, later revealed by Lex Luthor to the world, the villain of the film.
The shocking revelation has left the fans divided who failed to understand the evil version of Superman’s parents.
One disgruntled fan wrote: “I love the movie but that plot twist was just… it’s not it. I’m really not a big fan of making the dead parents bad people.”
Another user commented: “I’m still trying to comprehend why Jor El wanted Clark to take control of Earth and kill anyone who gets in his way??? I’m really not sure what James Gunn was thinking during that stuff.”
One Reddit user bemoaned: “I liked it overall. But I really hate the character assassination of Jor-El and Lara. Completely unnecessary for that to be the ‘real’ message instead of a ploy by Lex.”
However, other users praised the movie and Superman’s character as well.
