Love Island USA star Cierra Ortega’s parents broke silence after she silently quit from the reality TV show following heavy backlash.
The 25-year-old influencer has been the target of online hate and public scrutiny after her old social media post with “racial slur” began resurfacing.
After the announcement of Cierra being removed aired on Episode 30 of the seventh season, her parents begged for “compassion.”
The parents of the star admitted that they have “seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt and the hate” and the this was their “most painful” week of lives.
Although they denied presenting justification of the incident, the parents “understand why people are upset and we know accountability matters.”
While the family members are “heartbroken,” the statement made it clear that Cierra is yet to witness the ongoing criticism as she “is still away.”
The TV personality’s guardians concluded the note with their plea for sympathy and human “decency.”
Towards the end of the update, her family expressed gratitude to “those who’ve continued to show love, even when it’s not easy.”
This came after the TikToker’s old post began making the rounds on the internet, followed by an outcry from streamers to dismiss her from the Peacock series.
According to Perez Hilton, the influencer passed a remark about “Botox” not being for everyone, “but I love it for me!!!”
She further stated: “I can also be a little c***** when I laugh/smile so I love getting a mini brow lift” to help open her eyes and give her a “snatched look.”
The racial slur was deemed offensive by viewers, who demanded that the model should be removed from The Villa.
