The Oasis bandmates, Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher, started their most anticipated tour on Friday, July 4, in Cardiff. The star duo paid homage to the Portugal sports icon Diogo Jota, who died a day before in a car crash.

The Gallagher brothers performed the outro of their 1994 hit song Live Forever in memory of the soccer star. Popstars also displayed Diogo’s number 20 shirt on screens, which received thunderous applause from the 75,000 concert attendees.

Oasis fans raised Portugal flags in the crowd to honor the football player, while two red flares were set off to light up the event.

The Manchester band's performance at Cardiff Principality Stadium on Friday, with their emotional, lyrical spell of Live Forever, deeply moved the audience in the emotional era following Diogo's death.

The soccer high achiever was on a trip with his brother Andre Silva in a Lamborghini when the car left the road and caught fire. Diogo married Rute Cardoso 11 days before his death, and the player was traveling to the Spanish city of Zamora.

Why did Oasis break up?

Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher split up in 2009 after a backstage dispute between the brothers. The Oasis reunion came after 16 years of separation, as the bandmates announced their reunion tour in 2025.
