James Gunn’s Superman, which opened in theatres on July 11, was expected to launch a future for the new DC Universe.
The live-action movie was the combined vision of DC Studios co-heads Gunn and Peter Safran.
The movie wasn’t a mere revival of DC’s Man of Steel; it drops major hints toward new heroes, Easter eggs, and upcoming projects.
Here’s the list of TV shows and films lined up by the Superman launchpad:
Superman (2025) wraps up with a cameo by Milly Alcock, teasing the upcoming movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The final scene features an intoxicated Kara Zor-El, who stumbles into the Fortress of Solitude in full costume and retrieves Krypto, collapsing onto the floor laughing.
This shows that Supergirl’s dog, Krypto, was with Superman for safekeeping during her interspace travel.
The movie is set to release in 2026.
Superman also laid the foundations for Lanterns with Guy Gardner’s presence.
During the film, Guy references the wider Green Lantern Corps, establishing their existence in the new DC Universe.
The scene opens the screen presence for the upcoming Max series, which Gunn described as a “True Detective-style mystery.”
The series is also expected in 2026.
Superman showed a brief but notable cameo of Peacemaker.
During a television broadcast, Peacemaker appears, mocking Superman’s clean-cut image and hesitance to kill evildoers.
The brief moment showed the robust connection between the heroes and highlighted their differences.
Peacemaker Season 2 is set to debut on August 21, 2025, on Max.
Krypto, a pet but Superman’s loyal partner, is more than just a sideline. He’s a character of his own, with his warm chemistry with Superman and emotional connection with Supergirl.
Noticing the pup’s popularity, DC Studios has announced a four-episode series of animated shorts called Krypto the Superdog.
The lighthearted and surprising shorts will give the audience a distinct exploration of the DCU.
The shorts are expected to stream in 2025.
