Donald McDonald, best known for hosting the TV show Play School, has passed away at the age of 86.
The TV host was born in Australia and launched to fame as he was one of the original faces of the show Play School when it first launched in 1966.
Famously known as a stalwart of stage and screen, Donald engaged with young audiences with his charm and cheerful presence.
The news of the presenter’s was confirmed by entertainment journalist Craig Bennett.
Craig penned a post announcing the death of the 86-year-old on Facebook on JUly 1 along with multiple pictures with him.
“One of our showbiz greats left us at 12:45am today”, he wrote, “Donald Macdonald was a stalwart of stage and screen… He was a dapper delight and always great company.”
Adding details of his final moments, Craig revealed “On Saturday we turned his hospital room into a party, laughs and smiles a-plenty, as Donald enjoyed some bubbly and lemon meringue pie”.
It has been revealed that the late star passed away after battling with an undisclosed form of cancer.
