Tate McRae, who started her career as a dancer at the age of eight, recently revealed how she got to this point in her career.

The singer is considered a successful artist with multiple hits like greedy, you broke me first, What I Want, and Sports Car.

She started her journey first with YouTube, filming videos of her dancing in her bedroom and now the songwriter has achieved #1 album on the Billboard 200 in 2025.

Speaking from the experience to Billboard, the 22-year-old has confessed how she was able to make it to the top at such a young age.

She revealed, “I had a very specific vision. I remember being like, 'I want to be a pop star. I want Sean Bankhead. I want to write over this tempo. I want to do it in a hockey rink. I want this to be the aesthetic.' I could see it all in my brain,”

Adding to that, she also gushed, “It was about collecting the right people around me to make it a reality, Sometimes you get signs and messages on where you're supposed to go in life, and you ignore it.”

Tate said that once you get this feeling that you have to do something, and you focus on it with the right people by your side, thinking “you don’t have time to waste”, you get amazing and fruitful results.

Elsewhere in the interview, she also confessed which female artists inspired her, as she took the names of Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, Gracie Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo.

It is to be noted that Tate is currently working on her fourth studio album.
