Zara Larsson is dishing on being the opener for Tate McRae on her Miss Possessive Tour and the way people perceived and reacted to it.
The duo share a good friendship and the Midnight Sun singer has previously called out fans pitting them against each other.
In her latest appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the Lush Life singer stated, “I’m older, and maybe some people felt like I deserve to [headline] and I’m like, ‘Well, buy the tickets then!’ That’s not Tate’s fault. I haven’t toured. For me, this was an amazing opportunity.”
Zara then went on to say that it is just about how people react to girls making pop music, and acknowledged that her and Tate were similar in the way that they both dance and are pop singers which is why people want to root for whoever is the underdog.
“Tate is on a sold-out arena tour, and I’m opening for her. I think it’s just—we’re both talented, but people are like, ‘Why is Zara Larsson opening for Tate?’ It’s not about talent. It’s about me being put in front of a crowd where I haven’t been before,” she added.
Notably, the Swedish singer wrapped up opening the tour for Canadian singer in September of last year and penned a note addressing the issue at the time.
