Celeste Rivas Hernandes’ family has issued a statement after shocking rumours, that they were paid by D4vd to maintain silence about the case, went viral.
The 14-year-old had been in a relationship with the singer, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, and people speculated that the minor’s family did not speak out about it because they were being given hush money by the celebrity.
In a statement, attorney Patrick Steinfeld spoke on behalf of the victim’s father Jesus Rivas "I never had any contact with this guy and we haven't received any money from him or anyone in his family."
“There are no words to express the indescribable pain the family is experiencing right now. They still have bills to pay and jobs they go to every day. All they want is time to grieve and heal,” the lawyer added.
Meanwhile David has been charged with first-degree murder with the special circumstances of lying in wait in connection with the murder of Celeste.
The gruesome and gory details of the case, such as how he allegedly dismembered the body after the killing, have continued to horrify the masses and has also been difficult for the minor’s family to deal with.
