Kayla Vesia opens up about grief of losing newborn daughter

Kayla Vesia, wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia, posted an emotional update of six months after the pair lost their baby daughter, Sterling.

In a TikTok video posted Friday, Kayla, 30, said she was six months into her grief since the new-born angel departed.

"I'm very torn and in between, 'How did we get here already?' and 'Seems about right since time is also flying by,'" she began.

In November 2025, the couple announced that their beautiful daughter had gone to heaven. 

Alex missed the rest of the MLB playoffs, including the World Series which the Dodgers later won. 

He came back this season with a tribute to Sterling on his new glove. Kayla referred to the initial days as being "so dark, so heavy."

Moreover, she marked, "there are glimmers and flashes and times of happiness, a lot more. I'm so thankful for that 'cause that's helping move us forward."

She attributed therapy, family and friends as a protective factors, "Therapy has just been such a huge part of the healing journey for both of us," she said. 

"I'm thankful that he wanted to be a part of that." Even when she is in grief, Kayla claimed she can think of Sterling every minute. 

However, she continued, "I'm slowly finding peace and healing. With time, therapy, family, friends, it's getting lighter."
