Jessica Simpson gave a performance at the Season 2023 finale of American Idol on May 18, but the reception has not been positive.
She did the show in a gold dress with Josh King, shortly before the winner of the season was announced.
One viewer gave their thoughts, writing, "The Jessica Simpson Josh King American Idol performance might be the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever seen! Even the judges are cringing! His harmonica though…"
“Luke’s face during that Jessica Simpson performance is the epitome of cringe,” insisted another, referring to Judge Luke Bryan.
However, not all the responses were negative as one fan claimed, "Jessica Simpson she absolutely killed it!!”
"Jessica Simpson crushed it," wrote another.
She performed the track These Boots Are Made for Walkin', as well as a song from her EP Nashville Canyon called Blame Me.
Ryan Seacrest revealed to the audience and viewers that this was Simpson’s first ever performance on the show in 15 years.
That wasn’t enough of a justification for her appearance for some, though, as one user remarked, "American Idol is just pulling the most random people for this finale why they heck is Jessica Simpson on here lol.”
"Ewww! Jessica Simpson USE TO be able to really sing, but she sounds HORRIBLE tonight!,” added another.
