Meghan Markle breaks silence about the possible impact on the sale of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, after US President Donald Trump's tariffs policy.
People Magazine reported that the White House announced that "Trump would impose a 10% baseline tariff on all countries seeking to import goods to the U.S."
Speaking of the US government's shocking move, the former Suits actress told Fortune that the tariffs will not affect her brand.
"At the moment, all of our products are currently made in the US," she said.
Meghan continued, "But as we look at the larger context of how this is going to affect the consumer day to day, I’m very grateful that in part of the conception of this brand, I wanted to create products that look more prestige, but are more accessible and affordable."
Meghan said that people often want to find "creature comforts" and such products which bring them "joy", especially during times of recession.
It is pertinent to mention that the Duchess of Sussex launched the first collection on her As Ever website on April 2. After a few hours, Meghan claimed that the products on her website had been sold out.
