Meghan Markle has just announced the release date of her new podcast series with Lemonada Media, just days after her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, debuted to mixed reviews.
While the Duchess of Sussex continues to expand her media empire, experts are pointing out a major flaw in her Netflix series—it doesn’t resonate with the average viewer.
Speaking to GB News, property tax expert Terry Fisher explained why Meghan’s show has received such harsh criticism.
"For the average viewer, the homes and lifestyle shown in the series are far beyond reach. California already struggles with affordability, with median home prices significantly higher than most other US states,” Fisher explained.
He added that first-time homebuyers and middle-income earners are often priced out of coastal regions, making the luxurious lifestyle depicted in Meghan’s show completely unattainable for most people.
"So while the series will showcase the beauty and exclusivity of the region, it may also highlight the stark contrast between everyday buyers and the ultra-rich who can afford to live there."
Fisher also pointed out that while the luxury housing market remains strong, many buyers are forced to move to more affordable areas—or even out of state entirely.
"A show like Meghan’s may reinforce the dream of California living, but for most, it remains just that—a dream,” he concluded.
As per Netflix, Meghan’s new show features her "reimagining the genre of lifestyle programming” along with her celebrity friends as they roll “up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same”.
The series is part of Meghan and Prince Harry’s multi-year deal with Netflix, which they signed in 2020. The eight-part lifestyle series will mark Meghan’s return to her roots, featuring hosting and entertaining tips while welcoming celebrity friends on the show.
