Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, is facing yet another wave of criticism, with former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown leading the charge.

In the latest edition of her Substack newsletter, Fresh Hell, Brown took aim at the Duchess of Sussex, accusing her of missing the mark with a show centered around “fake perfection.”

Brown also questioned Meghan and Prince Harry’s decision to leave their royal roles when they did, arguing that they should have waited until Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in 2022 before stepping away.

“All Meghan had to do was shut up and wait. Go quiet for a couple of years, start a family, keep her eyes trained on the splendid royal real estate that would soon come up for grabs,” she wrote.

She went on to claim that if Markle had been patient, she and Harry would have been showered with global opportunities once Prince William became the Prince of Wales.

“The moment [Prince] William ascended to his role as Prince of Wales, there would have been new global gigs and red carpet roll-outs raining down on the Sussexes’ heads.”

Brown further criticized Markle’s latest business endeavor, American Riviera Orchard, pointing out the trademark issues that arose after she announced the lifestyle brand.

“Who announces a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and hounds celebrity friends to talk up her strawberry jam on social media, without doing due diligence on the availability of the trademark?” Brown questioned.

Her critique didn’t stop there. She also argued that Markle’s constant pursuit of status and influence has turned into an “endless boot camp for reputation rehab.”

What is Meghan Markle's show 'With Love, Meghan' about?

As per Netflix, Meghan’s new show features her "reimagining the genre of lifestyle programming” along with her celebrity friends as they roll “up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same”.

The series is part of Meghan and Prince Harry’s multi-year deal with Netflix, which they signed in 2020. The eight-part lifestyle series will mark Meghan’s return to her roots, featuring hosting and entertaining tips while welcoming celebrity friends on the show.
