Meghan Markle's new brand, As Ever, has already stirred up conversation, with some critics pointing out its resemblance to the Spanish flag. However, reports suggest that the logo might carry a deeper, more sentimental meaning connected to Prince Harry's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The logo features a palm tree and two hummingbirds, elements that closely resemble the coat of arms of Porreres, a municipality in Majorca. While some have drawn comparisons to the Spanish flag, others believe the hummingbirds hold a heartfelt significance.
According to People magazine, the hummingbirds could be a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry shared a poignant story about a hummingbird that flew into their Montecito home shortly after they returned from the UK following the late Queen's funeral in 2022.
"Soon after our return, a hummingbird got into the house. I had a devil of a time guiding it out, and the thought occurred that maybe we should start shutting the doors, despite those heavenly ocean breezes,” Harry wrote.
A friend then mentioned to Harry that in some cultures, hummingbirds are seen as spirits or even reincarnated warriors, known as "resurrection birds" by Spanish explorers.
The connection deepens in the couple's 2022 Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, where Prince Harry and his son Prince Archie are seen watching hummingbirds in their garden. During the scene, Harry says, "We won't get a chance to be this close to hummingbirds ever again," to which Archie innocently asks, "Why?" Harry responds, "Because they're scared of humans. These guys, look at them!”
