Prince Harry’s immigration status in the US remains under scrutiny despite former President Donald Trump recently stating he wouldn’t deport him.
A judge has now ordered the US government to review which of the Duke of Sussex’s visa documents can be made public, following an ongoing lawsuit by the Heritage Foundation against the Department of Homeland Security. The lawsuit seeks to disclose whether Harry properly disclosed his past drug use when applying for his visa.
US visa applications require applicants to disclose any history of drug use, which can lead to visa rejection. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Prince Harry admitted to using drugs, raising questions about whether he had been truthful in his application.
Last year, Judge Carl J. Nichols ruled that Harry’s immigration records should remain private. However, in a recent decision, he agreed to release the “maximum amount possible” regarding how the prince secured entry into the US. The government has been given a deadline to determine which documents can be disclosed.
Meanwhile, Trump had commented on the controversy in a recent New York Post interview, stating: “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
