Macaulay Culkin and Catherine O’Hara had an emotional mother-son reunion at the Walk of Fame event.
At the ceremony held on Friday, December 1, Culkin, 43, was honored with his Walk of Fame star.
The 69-year-old actress moved her former co-stars to tears with her speech as she reflected on how much her reel life son has evolved since they played Kevin and Kate McCallister in Home Alone.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Schitt’s Creek star began her speech, “Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation.”
“The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone is because of Macaulay Culkin,” she praised the most successful child artist of his time.
Undoubtedly, Chris Columbus and John Hughes’ Christmas classic from 1990 and its sequel in 1992 has the “most excellent script” and “wonderful director," she affirmed.
However, O’Hara noted that it was the little boy’s “perfect performance” that made the comedy, adventure saga garner massive appreciation and fanbase.
She continued, “I know you worked really hard, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.”
“This beautiful 10-year-old little boy was called a superstar, a moneymaker, one of the hottest young men in Hollywood. How does anyone survive that?” the After Hours actress added.
She concluded her heartfelt speech with a touch of humor to cheer up the crowd by saying thank you Culkin for having, “your fake mom that left you home alone not once but twice” on this “happy occasion.”
The Good Son alum wiped his tears and shared a warm hug with his on-screen mother after the speech.
For his part, the Richie Rich actor thanked the Walk of Fame committee for honoring him, “There's so many people that I love, and to feel that love back is just amazing."
In the “spirit of the holiday season” he wrapped up his speech with the famous line in film, “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.”
