Victoria Alonso was among the first to create the Marvel Cinematic Universe that proved to be a lucrative move for the studio

Marvel Studios' longtime executive Victoria Alonso has parted ways with the studio.

Multiple sources informed The Hollywood Reporter that she is no longer working with Marvel after departing on Friday.

Alonso has been with Marvel since its days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), where she established a 17-year tenure and helped the studio to expand from its initial operations, above a Mercedes-Benz dealership located in Beverly Hills, to getting an acquisition deal by Disney.

Under her leadership, MCU went on to becoming that highest-grossing franchise ever in the history of film.

She had first joined Marvel in 2006 as chief of visual effects and postproduction and helped launch the recognizable Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2008’s Iron Man, where she acted as co-producer.

Alonso went on to serve the same role on Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

Later on she was producer of The Avengers (2012) which was went on to become her magnum opus as it had crossed the $1.5 billion mark, which proved that a shared cinematic experience can work.

Later in 2021, she became president, physical and postproduction, visual effects and animation production.

Her departure comes in the backdrop of the poor reception and rating of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania by fans and critics alike.

As of now reasons for her departure are unclear.
