Prince Harry tells about the importance of necklace he keeps close to his heart

Prince Harry gave a glimpse of his necklace and the importance of its charm to Stephen Colbert.

On the day that his memoir Spare was released worldwide, the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex appeared on The Late Show to talk about it. Prince Harry talked about the "cathartic" nature of writing, his time serving in Afghanistan, his friendship with Prince William, and more. At one point, he showed the host the broken black cord necklace he claimed his brother's 2019 physical assault on him caused.

"There is a lot of talk about the physical fight that the two of you had, where he pushed you down in the kitchen and broke the dog bowl when you fell on it," Colbert, 58, said.

The host cited a widely debated paragraph from Spare about the altercation between the brothers that Harry claims happened at Nottingham Cottage, Harry's old residence on the grounds of Kensington Palace, after a dispute about Meghan Markle.

Pointing to the book, Colbert questioned, "It says he broke your necklace. Which necklace was this that he broke?"

Harry remarked, "This one, which is now fixed," as he pulled out the cord hidden under his shirt and explained the meaning of the three silver charms.

"I've got my kids' heartbeats, which my wife gave me," he said of the sappy charms engraved with cardiograms for son Archie Harrison, 3, and daughter Lilibet Diana, 19 months.

"And I friend of mine in Botswana made this for me, which has got tiger's eye on it," he added.
