Vin Diesel confirms ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise to an end after two more movies

The wait is finally coming to its end as the highly-anticipated action-packed movie of the year, Fast & Furious 9 aka F9 is finally all set to hit the theatres at the end of the month, June 25th, franchise leading star Vin Diesel has made the heartbreaking announcement about the popular franchise is coming to its end.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press on Thursday, Diesel announced that the Fast & Furious saga will conclude after two more films, following the release of the ninth installment, F9.

He also shed light on how Universal Pictures studio wants to close out the saga in two parts, which could potentially release in 2023 and 2024.

He also explained why the higher ups decided to close the chapter on the saga for good. "Every story deserves its own ending," he said.

"I know people are going to feel like it doesn't have to end, but I think all good things should. There are reasons for a finale. I think this franchise has deserved it.”

"This franchise was born from the pavement, from the concrete. The world just championed this underdog to a place where it has already surpassed all of these other franchises. But the franchise has a soul and that soul has to rest," said the actor.

F9 director Justin Lin shared that the idea to conclude the story came up with a conversation with Diesel. Furthermore, the media reports said that the actor gave Lin the idea about "closing up the saga now” and as per the director "nine is kind of the first film of the final chapter" where they are "reconfiguring everything, so that the next two movies should wrap up this amazing journey for these characters."

Diesel has played the iconic Dominic Toretto since the franchise’s inaugural film, The Fast and Furious in 2001
