Sophie - Duchess of Edinburgh

Sophie - Duchess of Edinburgh

Sophie, is married to King Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, the youngest sibling of King Charles III.

The Duchess of Edinburgh began full-time work as the member of the royal family.

She is the holder of 70 charities and organizations, including, Wessex Heartbeat, Child line and the London College of Fashion.

As a working member of the royal family, it is one of Sophie’s duties to carry out public engagements such as visits to schools, universities and military bases.

For the unversed Sophie first met Edward while working at the Capital Radio.

The duo then crossed paths yet again at the Prince Edward Summer Challenge charity event.

As per the royal insiders, Edward always had an eye for a young, bright girl and Sophie had all the sparkly and fun qualities he wanted to see.

Before her introduction to the royal family, Sophie had a few flings. While working for a film called Bladon Lines, she romanced a famous Australian ski instructor.

Sophie’s marriage to Prince Edward was a grand affair that took place at the St. George’s Chapel, Windsor castle.

After saying “I do” in a dreamy wedding ceremony the couple headed for honeymoon at the Balmoral Castle.

In December 2001, the Duchess faced a big health ordeal as she was rushed to the hospital after feeling unwell.

As per the doctor’s examination, it was reported that Sophie was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy due to which a fetus had to be removed.

However, two years later she prematurely delivered a daughter, Lady Louise. Then, on December 17 2007, she welcomed her son, James, who is now, the Earl of Wessex.
