Duchess Sophie received new honour from Buckingham Palace after she performed the key task on behalf of her cancer-stricken brother-in-law, King Charles.
The official Instagram page of the royal family released powerful images from the Duchess of Edinburgh's appearance at the Sovereign’s Parade at Sandhurst Royal Military.
The message alongside photos reads, "Last week, on behalf of The King, The Duchess of Edinburgh took the salute at the Sovereign’s Parade at @RMASandhurst."
"This year’s Parade made history with an all-female banner party participating for the first time ever."
"The event marks the completion of 44 weeks of intensive training for the 239 Officer Cadets of Commissioning Course 242, who will now be commissioned as British Army Officers. The Parade featured 26 international cadets from 18 countries."
It was reported that the monarch chose his 'secret weapon' to perform the notable royal task as he was resting following his four-day headline-making Italy tour.
It is not a hidden fact that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were dubbed 'key asset' of the royal family as they always stood behind the King, especially during his cancer battle.
