Olivia Wilde recently explained how she dealt with public scrutiny around Don’t Worry Darling drama.
The American actress opened up about one celebrity who helped her through movie’s press tour and how it affected her personal life.
Olivia sat with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy podcast, revealing that Don’t Worry Darling released in theatres in September 2022 and Pamela Anderson’s documentary, Pamela: A Love Story.
After watching the documentary, the House actress reached out to Pamela, saying, “I actually learned this from — this sounds so crazy.”
“But after I saw the documentary, I reached out to her, and I was like, ‘Yo, respect. Just want to say big fan,’” explained the 42-year-old.
Interestingly, Olivia opened up that she was “aware of some of the s—t” she was going through and told her that amid the public scrutiny.
“The most rebellious thing you can do is stay soft. Don’t let it harden you,” said the Tron: Legacy star.
At the time, Pamela shared wise words from her own experience in the public eye.
“It was so hard, because I wanted to be like, ‘Can I just talk to people? Can I just go and say, ‘That’s not true! That’s not true!’” mentioned the In Time actress.
Olivia went on saying, “And it was like, ‘No, that won’t help.’ And that was really hard.”
Meanwhile, the Booksmart actress added, “I felt frustrated that I couldn’t defend myself, but it also felt like, ‘Okay, it’s not about you. Just get the movie out.’”
“And the pummeling that I took was so insanely disproportionate,” stated Olivia.
