Taylor Swift recently credited her family for the honour she received during her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York
On June 11, the Cruel Summer singer reflects on her ups and down in her 23-year music career as well as the sacrifices her family made for her craft in nearly 21-minute acceptance speech on Thursday night.
“It was easy to choose songwriting over everything else in my life,” said the 36-year-old.
Taylor noted that writing was easy for her because it was “instinctual,” and she had learned by herself.
During her speech, the Opalite singer got emotional while speaking about her family, saying, “It couldn’t have been easy for my parents and my brother to just pick up and move our entire family from Pennsylvania to relocate to Nashville.”
Nevertheless, Taylor recalled that her parents decided to uproot their entire lives to move her to Music City so so that she could hone her craft in the songwriting capital of the world.
“And even though words are supposed to kind of be my thing, I will never be able to express my gratitude to you guys for doing that for me. You’re the reason I’m here tonight,” added the Blank Space singer.
