Ariana Grande has publicly criticized the White House after one of her songs was used in a social media post promoting immigration enforcement efforts.
The controversy began when the White House shared a TikTok video on June 9 featuring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers carrying out arrests.
The video was paired with the singer’s track Bye from Eternal Sunshine and carried the caption, "Bye-bye President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history."
Later, the singer weighed in through the comments section, writing,
"Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. f*k ice."
The song has since been removed from the video.
It is pertinent to mention, the 7 rings hitmaker is not the only artist to object to the administration’s use of music.
Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Kenny Loggins and Olivia Rodrigo have also spoken out after their songs were used in posts about immigration and political issues.
