Phoebe Bridgers has sparked a wave of debate after banning phones entirely from her upcoming tour, insisting fans will be fully “present” at every show.
The 31-year-old indie star is set to hit the road later this year for The Lost Tour, her first major run since 2023, covering the UK, Europe and North America, but concertgoers will need to leave their smartphones behind.
Announcing the tour on Instagram, Bridgers kept it simple, posting dates with the blunt caption: “I’m going on tour no phones.”
A press release confirmed the strict policy that all phones, smart watches and similar devices will be locked in Yondr pouches upon entry, with fans keeping them on them throughout the show.
Anyone caught using a device during the performance risks being removed from the venue.
Moreover, fans are also being encouraged to bring cashless payment methods for purchases inside.
The tour kicks off in Indianapolis on September 15 before heading through major cities including Chicago, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Detroit, Boston and Los Angeles, as well as Canadian stops in Toronto and Vancouver.
Support acts will include Alex G across North America, while Isaac Wood will open in the UK and Europe leg.
The announcement follows a surprise run of intimate acoustic shows, including a headline performance at Madison Square Garden where tickets were famously priced at just $1, sending fans into frenzy.
While some fans have praised the “phone-free” concept as refreshing, others are already questioning how realistic it will be in the age of constant social sharing.
This is making Bridgers’ tour one of the most talked-about live events of the year before it has even begun.
