Kanye West recently alleged that he made history with his magnanimous show in Istanbul on May 30.
The rapper, who is also known as Ye, addressed the crowd at Atatürk Olympic Stadium on Saturday, saying this is the largest stadium performance in history, as per Türkiye Today report.
Kanye told the audience, “I just want to tell y’all, we just broke the record, 118,000, largest stadium performance of all time.”
The show, where Travis Scott also joined the rapper on stage, garnered fans from Turkey and abroad including Russia, Kazakhstan, the U.K., Germany, the U.S. and Poland.
It is pertinent to mention that the Istanbul show marked the opening night of Kanye’s first European tour in 11 years.
Earlier in April, the United Kingdom government reportedly dismissed the rapper’s entry, ruling his presence “would not be conducive to the public good,” that led to the cancellation of his Wireless Festival headline slot.
Another Marseille show was postponed after French officials attempted to block it, and concerts in Poland and Switzerland were also cancelled.
Meanwhile, on the same day as the Istanbul concert, Italian authorities reportedly banned Kanye and Travis from performing at a July show citing security reasons.
