Madonna sent shockwaves through New York on Thursday night as she transformed Times Square into a full-blown open-air party.
The 67-year-old legendary singer debuted her brand-new single Love Sensation in a surprise performance that left fans absolutely stunned.
More than 50,000 people packed into the heart of Manhattan as the Queen of Pop suddenly appeared and launched into the track live for the very first time.
Within hours, the song was officially released on streaming platforms, sending the hype into overdrive.
The explosive pop moment was part of a collaboration with LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr, which also streamed the entire spectacle worldwide, meaning fans everywhere could watch the city centre erupt into what looked like a giant street rave.
And Madonna wasn’t holding back.
Alongside Love Sensation, she debuted new tracks I Feel So Free and Bring Your Love, the latter a duet with Sabrina Carpenter, before diving into a nostalgia-packed set of classics including Hung Up, Get Together and I Love New York, each met with deafening cheers.
The new material is taken from her upcoming album Confessions II, set for release on July 3, marking her first new project in years.
The buzz around Love Sensation had already been building since April, when Madonna surprised fans at a West Hollywood club, while producer Stuart Price teased snippets during a DJ set.
Her latest dance tracks are already climbing charts, with I Feel So Free hitting No.1 on Billboard’s Dance Airplay Chart and Bring Your Love topping the UK Club Chart.
The moment also felt like a statement, coming after Charli xcx’s claim that “the dancefloor is dead.”
The Popular hitmaker responded on Instagram with a pointed message, if the dancefloor feels dead, maybe it’s just the wrong music.
