Will Ferrell’s scheduled Saturday Night Live monologue got sabotaged by the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who stepped in as host.
The musician kicked things off, looking strikingly similar to the comedian, before the actor jumped in to prevent him from fully taking over.
“I’m thrilled to be back here hosting ‘Saturday Night Live,' I was a cast member here for seven years. And now I’m hosting for the sixth time! It really feels like coming home,” he said to the applauding audience before the actual former cast member interrupted him.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing? You’re not the host. I am! What the hell is wrong with you? He pushed me down backstage. And I fell, hard. Lorne had to give me mouth-to-mouth. Seriously, what are you even doing here?” Will said.
Chad attempted to get away with things by claiming that he was the musical guest for the special occasion, which is the season finale of the sketch comedy show.
However, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor winner corrected him and said that it was actually Sir Paul McCartney.
The Beatles musician also made an appearance during the monologue, repeatedly confusing Will for Chad and telling him to get back behind the drums.
