Ryan Reynolds recently drew ire from fans online over his Mother’s Day tribute wording for Blake Lively.
The Deadpool & Wolverine star referred to his wife, Blake, using “this/them” in his latest Mother’s Day post.
On May 10, Ryan posted a picture of himself and A Simple Favour actress on his Instagram Stories, paying honours to Blake.
However, the post didn’t set well with the online fans as they questioned the choice of words Ryan used for his wife.
One Reddit user wrote, “It’s a weird narcissistic devaluation thing. Although I do sort of think he’s running everything through ChatGPT to the point of madness.”
Another remarked, “Maybe it's a keyword SEO manipulation thing again. He avoids referring to Blake by name so that he's not contributing any additional new content that associates Blake with him.”
“Are her eyes closed in the bottom picture? And what a crappy story. He doesn’t even say her name. With a husband like that, who needs enemies?” stated a third user.
A fourth one added, “I think this is language meant to encourage people to see her like an everywoman. But it sounds super impersonal. An ad, not an ode. It's not heartfelt.”
Meanwhile, the post came amid rumours that the couple’s marriage is under pressure following Blake’s high-profile legal battle with Justin Baldoni, which ended in a legal settlement earlier this month.
