Chase Matthew, who is known for his viral hits like Love You Again, became the talk of town after his base player faced allegations.
The 28-year-old musician’s sideman was slammed with charges for sexually abusing an autistic child.
Carsen Richards, who played behind the singer, is facing charges of “second-degree sodomy and incest” that involves a person under the age of 18.
The 22-year-old has been accused of abusing the alleged victim when they were 12 in 2020 and later at the age of 14 in 2022.
According to criminal reports, the child turned out to be on Level 1 of Autism by “Vanderbilt University Hospital.”
The mother of the kid involved claimed that the bassist has already confessed to making “an awful mistake.”
Chase also broke his silence to address the unprecedented situation, writing on his Instagram about being “truly disturbed and disgusted by the details of these allegations.”
The Darlin’ hitmaker admitted that his “heart breaks for anyone affected,” revealing he was “sick to my stomach” and declaring he “would never associate myself with a person… capable of something like this.”
He cleared the air about being associated with his co-worker, insisting: “The reality is, you don’t always know what someone may be doing outside of your workplace.”
