Alan Cumming recently made major decision after his bad experience of hosting this year’s BAFTA earlier this year.
The Traitors star recalled the racial slur scandal and blamed the bosses for poorly handling the issue at the time.
For the unversed, John Davidson, who has severe Tourette's syndrome, involuntarily shouted the N-word while actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage presenting an award.
The scandal flared up after BBC failed to omit the slur from the broadcast and left the clip online for over 12 hours.
In his latest interview with The Times, Alan explained how “poor John” struggled with the public scrutiny.
“It was bad people who weren't doing their jobs properly, who really had not prepared and let people down,” said the X2 actor.
Nevertheless, Alan also issued an apology to viewers from the teleprompter for the uttering of the word.
However, now the actor addressed the apology, stating, “I watched myself back. I was very smiley; I didn't do it with the gravitas and tone I would have used had I known.”
When asked if he would return as host, Alan added, “Right before it started, I said to my agent, ‘Remind me, I never want to do this again.’”
