Kevin McKidd has sparked excitement after admitting he would be “very excited” at the idea of joining the new Harry Potter, HBO television series project.

The 52-year-old Scottish actor, best known for his long-running role as Dr Owen Hunt in Grey's Anatomy, recently bowed out of the hit medical drama after 18 seasons.

But it seems he’s not quite ready to hang up his scrubs for good when it comes to Hollywood magic.

Rumours have been swirling online that McKidd could step into the shoes of Arthur Weasley in the upcoming reboot of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world for HBO.

The speculation gained traction after actress Gracie Cochrane, who is set to play Ginny Weasley, started following him on social media.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Made of Honor actor didn’t confirm anything, but certainly didn’t pour cold water on the idea either.

“I saw something about this. And listen, I would never say never. I’m a massive Harry Potter fan,” he said.

He also revealed a bittersweet connection to the franchise, admitting he once came close to appearing in the final two Harry Potter films but had to turn it down due to contract uncertainty on an earlier project.

“I was asked to be in it once already,” he explained, adding that missing out still “makes me sad”.

He even hinted he may have been considered for a werewolf role, widely believed to be Fenrir Greyback.

As for Arthur Weasley, the beloved wizard father in the original books, that role would be a dream second chance for McKidd.

“The idea of getting another crack at that gets me very excited,” he said.

Meanwhile, Trainspotting star has also teased that Owen Hunt could one day return to Grey Sloan Memorial or even head back from Paris, joking the Highlands of Scotland might suit him better than the French capital.
