Leonardo DiCaprio's move wins over Nikki Glaser after awards show jokes

Nikki Glaser has revealed Leonardo DiCaprio won her over in the most unexpected way possible, by sending her baskets stuffed with pasta after she roasted him at the Golden Globes.

The 41-year-old comedian had poked fun at the famously private Titanic star during her opening monologue at January’s ceremony.

She joked that one of the few personal facts the public knows about Leo is his love of “pasta, pasta and more pasta” from a decades-old interview.

But instead of taking offence, the Oscar winner apparently decided to lean into the joke.

Speaking to People, Nikki laughed as she recalled the moment the surprise gift arrived. 

She admitted she was completely baffled at first when she received a photo of the delivery.

“I was like, ‘He sent pasta?’” she said, before suddenly realising the joke had clearly landed with the actor. 

Even better, One Battle After Another actor reportedly sent three baskets of pasta, a cheeky nod to her “pasta, pasta and more pasta” gag.

Nikki confessed she was genuinely touched by the gesture, especially as he is known for keeping a low profile and rarely speaking publicly about his private life.

The stand-up star admitted she expected The Revenant actor might be tired of constantly being the butt of awards-show jokes, but said his reaction totally changed her view of him.

“I’m like, oh, he’s a legit, kind, cool dude,” she gushed.

Nikki added that the thoughtful gift showed he has a great sense of humour and can laugh at himself, something she now finds “funny, cool and kind.”
