'A Promised Land' becomes best-selling presidential memoir

Former US president Barack Obama's new memoir, A Promised Land, has garnered record-breaking sales on the first day of its release. 

As of now, the book has sold nearly 890,000 and with its current trajectory, critics believe it might end up becoming one of the best-selling presidential memoirs in modern history according to the AP News.

Obama has even surpassed his wife's record for Becoming with his recent release. The former first lady’s memoir was released back in 2018 and it was said to have been the best-seller of its time, selling 725,000 copies on first day and about 1.4 million copies in its first week.

Obama, 59, has served as the 44th president of the United States and in his memoir, he wrote about the country's history as well as about his own presidencial years as the first Black president.

For the unversed, the former president is also the author of two other books, Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.
