Sia breaks silence on child support settlement amid ‘horrific year’

Sia is opening up about the amount that she has to pay her estranged husband Daniel Bernard for their son, as well as making a surprise confession about primary custody.

The Chandelier hit maker took to her social media platform X, to give people an update about her personal life and son Somersault Wonder Bernad.

“I see my settlement has been picked up by the press. I’m a sober working mom trying to buy peace. I have primary custody of our son and since i am the only parent earning income i still have to pay California’s incredibly high child support,” she wrote.

As per court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Sia will pay Daniel $42,500 in child support per month.

The musician added that she has had a “horrific” year, however it has taught her how to navigate tough times, to prioritise family and to not let other people’s negativity impact her.

Sia ended her message with a quote from Alexander Pope's 1771 poem An Essay on Criticism, “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”

Notably, the mother-of-three welcomed her first child with Bernard on March 27th 2024 and the pair divorced in March of 2025.
