Anne Hathaway’s upcoming A24 movie, Mother Mary’s director has dished a surprising fact about the film, linking it to Taylor Swift.
The Ella Enchanted actress is set to play an iconic popstar who reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer right before her comeback performance and the movie’s director David Lowery opened up about being inspired by the real-life global popstar.
In a new interview with Empire magazine, the filmmaker who also wrote the movie stated, that he “definitely brought a lot of Taylor Swift to the table in terms of who Mother Mary was.”
“I would often would be like, ‘Imagine Taylor Swift in ten or 15 years — that’s sort of who this character could be,” Lowery said, adding “Reputation concert film is one of the best concert films ever. It's truly phenomenal. And for our concert sequences we looked at that repeatedly.”
The 45-year-old also joined Hathaway in going to the Eras Tour in Europe and even ended up getting a Swift style beaded bracelet with ‘Anti-Hero’ on it from the actress.
As per The Green Knight director the 14-time Grammy winner’s 2018 album and its songs were being used as a budgeting tool and overall guide.
Notably, Lowery added that Swift would be mentioned a lot amid the production process of the film, which is a hint as to what viewers can expect visually and in terms of performance.
