Rege-Jean Page is falling head over heels for romcoms.
The 38-year-old Bridgerton heartthrob stars alongside Halle Bailey in the new romcom You, Me and Tuscany, directed by Kat Coiro, and he’s revealed why he can’t get enough of the genre.
“I mean, who doesn’t want to swoon?” he told People.
“It’s kind of a facetious answer, but also the real answer is: who isn’t interested in love?”
He added that romcoms aren’t just fun but they also shape culture.
“If there is a universal language, it’s love. From cavemen to now, everyone’s interested in loving and being loved,” he said.
“What happens when you don’t have those stories in cinemas is that you don’t have them in culture.
Movies show people how to talk through their problems, grow, and become better versions of themselves. That’s important.”
Rege-Jean admitted he’s “pretty passionate” about this slice of culture because it teaches viewers to connect with each other and embrace happiness as a community.
Halle Bailey clearly agrees with her co-star’s charm, having earlier praised Black Bag star’s warmth and humour.
Speaking to The Guardian, she said: “Rege is so funny. He’s such a warm, kind-hearted guy. I feel his English accent really comes out now that we’re here in London.
When we’re in LA it goes in and out. I hope some of his English charm rubbed off on me.”
Fans can catch the pair bringing love, laughter, and a touch of English charm to screens in You, Me and Tuscany.
