Niall Horan revealed that he has channelled grief over Liam Payne in his upcoming album.
Horan and Payne both were members of One Direction from 2010 to 2016, alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
In an interview promoting his record, he told the GQ Hype that Dinner Party will feature a song called End of an Era, a lullaby inspired by his heartache over losing his pal.
The Black and White singer shared that he "went into hiding a little bit" after Payne’s funeral in order to grieve privately, during that time he found old videos and photos of him and Payne.
"Nostalgic… along with fear and sadness and all the stuff that comes with grief," Horan said.
"[There are] memories that only he and I can share 'cause you have a team and you have people around all the time," explained the This Town crooner. "But we always said that only us have that experience, no one else has that."
The Irish singer had spent time with his former bandmate just days earlier Payne’s death during a stop in the city while on tour.
Recalling the time spent with him, the Too Much to Ask crooner added, "It was great. [He] seemed in good form and we had a good laugh, good reminisce."
He was also the first one to know about Payne's death. While watching TV in bed at home.
The Flicker hitmaker remembered going from being shocked to sad to angry, adding, "Someone so young, you’re not expecting to hear that they’ve passed, especially someone that you've just seen."
Horan's upcoming album The Dinner Party is slated for release on June 5.
