Conan O'Brien is preparing to host Hollywood’s biggest night, but the build-up to the Academy Awards is unfolding under unusually tight security.

The 62-year-old comedian will take centre stage at the 98th Oscars on Sunday at the famous Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the world’s biggest film stars will gather to celebrate cinema.

However, behind the scenes there is reportedly growing anxiety after intelligence warnings suggested Iran may have explored launching drones towards the US West Coast while the ceremony takes place.

The star-studded event is expected to attract huge names from across the industry, including nominees Jessie Buckley and Timothee Chalamet.

But some insiders say the heightened alert has made attendees uneasy as they prepare to walk the famous red carpet.

A private security contractor working with several A-list guests told RadarOnline that concerns have quietly spread among celebrities and their teams.

“There is genuine unease behind the scenes because everyone knows the Oscars is one of the most visible events in the world,” the insider said.

“If someone wanted global attention, that stage would certainly deliver it.”

According to the source, clients have been asking detailed questions about evacuation routes, airspace monitoring and how quickly the venue could be secured if anything suspicious appeared in the sky.

Officials have stressed there is no confirmed plot targeting the ceremony, but security measures have been significantly strengthened.

Extra patrols, controlled perimeters and specialist response units are expected around the venue as authorities remain vigilant.

Despite the tense backdrop, Oscars executive producer Raj Kapoor insisted organisers are confident the event will run safely.

He noted that close collaboration with federal agencies and local police to protect one of the world’s most watched nights in showbiz.
