Lil Nas X has opened up about one of the toughest chapters of his life.
The 27-year-old chart-topper revealed that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a turbulent year that saw him arrested and later enter rehab.
Nas, whose real name is Montero Hill, shared the deeply personal update with fans on Instagram, explaining that he spent several months in treatment after his high-profile arrest in Los Angeles in August 2025.
At the time, the Old Town Road hitmaker was found wandering the streets in the early hours of the morning and was later charged with resisting arrest and causing injury to a police officer.
However, the rapper has now revealed the incident became a turning point in his life.
Speaking candidly, INDUSTRY BABY singer admitted he had suspected for years that he might be living with bipolar disorder but struggled to accept the diagnosis.
He joked that life already felt challenging enough, saying he worried about how people would react to learning he was black, gay and bipolar, adding that he felt as though he was playing life on “extreme hard mode”.
Despite his fears, the rapper said seeking help has made a huge difference.
After spending months in rehab, he has been dividing his time between Atlanta and Los Angeles, surrounding himself with family and friends while focusing on staying grounded.
And the star insists he is now in a far healthier place mentally than he was a year ago.
Nas told fans he is feeling happier, more creative and less fearful, adding that he is finally able to “smell the roses” and enjoy life again.
There is more good news for supporters too.
The Grammy-winning performer confirmed he has been busy making new music and is preparing for an exciting new chapter in his career.
